From Sun to Saturn: Astrology’s Secret Influence on Your Week
From the bold fire of Mars to the intuitive glow of the Moon, the planets lend their power to every day we live.
Each day of the week isn’t just a name on a calendar—it holds a unique energy, a rhythm that’s been shaped by the stars for thousands of years. Long before digital planners and alarm clocks, the ancients mapped time through the movements of the planets, assigning each day to a celestial body and its corresponding influence.
Understanding these astrological connections doesn’t just add mystique to your schedule—it can align your actions with the natural flow of cosmic energy. Let’s explore the seven sacred days and the planetary rulers that shape them.
We’re going to explore the spirit, magickal uses, and qualities of each of the days, so I encourage you to find out what day of the week you were born on, as we’ll be examining that in an upcoming article!
Monday: Moody Day of the Moon
Monday/Moon-Day – the correlation here is easy to make. I find it odd that we start the week off with Monday. Ruled by the moon, the energy of emotion dominates this day and doesn’t inspire much in the way of action. It’s no wonder people have a hard time after the weekend, as the moon inspires rest and comfort.
Monday is all about getting your internal world in order, exploring your feelings, and nurturing yourself. Monday’s magickal themes are: emotional healing, connecting to or healing feminine energy, developing your intuition, and healing the inner child.
Tuesday: Fiery Day of Mars
Tuesday is named after Tyr, the Viking god of battle and sacrifice. If we look at the French word for Tuesday, “Mardi”, the connection to Mars is evident. Mars is the god of war, vitality and action.
After a day of consulting inward, Tuesday kicks the rest of the week off into action. It’s normal to feel energized, confident and powerful on Tuesday. It’s a great day to make progress, get in a hard workout or assert your boundaries.
Tuesday’s magickal themes are: physical healing, magick for vitality and protection, connecting to the warrior within, connecting to the element of fire, and building passion.
Wednesday: Wise Day of Mercury
Wednesday is named after the Viking all-father Odin, the god of wisdom. The French word for Wednesday, “Mercredi,” reveals the planet Mercury as the day’s ruler. Mercury is the god of intelligence, communication, air, and business. In the middle of the week, Wednesday often feels busy – because it is.
Mercury, the messenger of the gods, was always moving around, and Wednesdays are characteristic of Mercury’s speed and long to-do list. Wednesdays are an excellent day for communication, planning, strategizing, and researching.
Wednesday’s magick themes are: magick for communication, abundance, interviews and business opportunities, astral travelling, and communing with nature and the divine.
Thursday: Fortunate Day of Jupiter
Thursday is named after the Viking god of thunder, Thor, the warrior who also taught humanity how to cultivate abundance through agriculture.
In French, Thursday is “Jeudi”, corresponding to the planet Jupiter. A sociable, easy-going day, that encourages connection and making the most of opportunities that come your way, Thursday is the day to capitalize on good fortune wherever it shows up in your life.
Thursday’s magickal themes: magick for abundance and opportunities, acquisition of wisdom, good fortune for anything (love, money, work), magick for justice, contracts, and agreements.
Friday: Venus’s Day of Love
Friday is named after the Norse goddess Frigg, the goddess of love and fertility. “Vendredi”, the French name for Friday shows us the connection to the planet Venus. As the day of love, pleasure and joy, it’s no wonder that everyone says “TGIF” aside from it being the end of the work week.
The spirit of love and pleasure dominate and instead of seeking rest immediately, Venus encourages celebration and connection with others. Friday evening is full of all things Venus – romance, connection, fun and pleasure.
Friday’s magickal themes are magick for love and relationships, healing the heart, magick for creativity, abundance and fertility, and appreciating the beauty of the earth through magick - such as herbs, oils, and incense.
Saturday: Saturn’s Day of Discipline
Unlike the weekdays, Saturday does not take its name from a Norse god. The English name Saturday directly points us in the direction of Saturn, who was revered as the god of agriculture and abundance in Roman times. Saturn is a planet that brings tasks to completion. He encourages you to fulfill your duties and prepare for what comes ahead.
It’s normal to want to tend to the groceries, laundry and numerous other tasks that await you at home so that you can rest the next day. Saturn gives you the discipline to get it done.
Saturday’s magickal themes are magick for discipline and self-control, inspiration for problem solving and building abundance, spiritual protection, and dealing with the personality’s shadow side.
Sunday: the Sun’s Day of Light
The final day of the week, the day that God rested from his labors. Sunday was honored by the ancient Romans as the day of the Sun, and the day was later adopted into the Old English language.
Sunday is filled with the spirit of joy, pleasure, time with family and recharging. It is not a day of loud pleasure, like Friday; it is the quiet, contented enjoyment of life and taking things in stride. Sunday reminds you to love your life and the people in it.
Sunday’s magickal themes are gratitude and appreciation, spiritual recharge, connecting to the divine masculine, connecting to the higher self, and magick for joy, love, and fertility.
When you align your week with the planets, time stops feeling random and starts feeling sacred. Each day becomes a doorway—an invitation to focus, feel, act, or rest with intention.
Whether you’re scheduling meetings, setting goals, or simply seeking more meaning in your daily rhythm, the wisdom of the planets is always there, guiding you through the week like silent celestial mentors.
All you have to do is listen.
May the stars guide your way,
Aleks
