You probably know your zodiac sign. Maybe you know the signs of your family and friends. You’ve heard of the full moon. You’ve seen people post about Mercury in retrograde.
Astrology is everywhere—but many people don’t fully understand what it is.
Some think it’s just a fun personality test from ancient times. But astrology is much more than that.
The word comes from Greek: “astron” means stars, and “logia” means study. Long ago, astronomy and astrology were the same. People who studied the stars also studied how they affect life on Earth.
Cultures like the Egyptians, Chinese, Hindus, Sumerians, and Mayans all valued astrology. What we use today mostly comes from Ancient Greece. That’s called Hellenistic Astrology.
For thousands of years, people have watched the sky. They tracked the sun, moon, and stars to help with farming, travel, and even planning big events. Over time, they noticed how these patterns matched events on Earth—both in nature and in human life.
The Oxford Dictionary defines astrology as “the study of the movements and positions of planets and stars, seen as having an effect on people and the world.”
That says it all. Astrology touches almost every part of life. For example:
It shows your true nature—not just your personality.
It affects events in your life.
It connects to your health and emotions.
It shapes events in the world.
It even links to weather and natural changes.
That’s just a short list. Astrology works on both personal and global levels. Planets and stars give off energy. That energy creates patterns and cycles. And we, as humans, respond to it. These energies can show up in your thoughts, feelings, and daily life.
Even matter reacts to these forces. Think about gravity—if stars and planets had no pull, gravity wouldn’t work!
In the middle of these cosmic patterns, you’re trying to shape your life.
Astrology helps you understand who you are, work through problems, plan your future, and find peace. Ever wondered if you're losing your mind, or if something weird is just “in the air”? Astrology can give you answers. Sometimes, all you have to do is look up.
You don’t need to know every detail about how it works. Just remember this:
Astrology is like the weather—and you are the sailor.
As you learn more and grow, you’ll get better at reading the signs. You’ll be able to steer through good times and tough times with more ease.
In the end, astrology is about knowing yourself.
You’ve just seen how astrology reveals your inner wiring… but that’s only the beginning.
In the next article, I’ll show you how to predict life’s twists before they happen—using the sky like a map. Stay tuned—Forecasting Astrology is where the real magic begins.
I’ll leave you with this quote from Aristotle:
“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”
May the stars guide your way,
Aleks
