What Was the Lunar Phase When You Were Born? (Part 2)
The idea of using moon phases to time events, rituals, and even magic is a well-known way to work with the moon’s energy in astrology.
Just like people do certain things during different phases of the moon, the moon phase you were born under also adds to how your emotions show up in life. In the last article, we looked at the waxing moon phases.
Now we’ll look at the waning phases and how they affect the emotional side of the moon, based on your moon sign and house. Most calendars list the major moon phases, but here is a free moon calendar you can use to find your birth moon phase.
Full Moon:
The full moon happens when the sun and moon are across from each other in the chart. The moon is at its brightest, showing feelings from deep inside. If you were born during a full moon, your emotions are strong and clear. You feel things deeply and want to share or act on those feelings. You care about peace and beauty and may feel let down when others don’t share your views. You may also pick up others’ feelings without knowing it. One of your biggest lessons is to learn the difference between your emotions and those of others. Once you do, you’ll feel much more steady.
Waning Gibbous Moon:
This phase happens when the sun and moon are four or five signs apart after the full moon. Like those born during the waxing gibbous, people born now have rich, deep emotions. They are thoughtful and love to talk about deep topics. They want to share what they’ve learned. But it’s important to not get upset when others don’t agree or don’t seem to care. Not everyone values the same things. If you can accept different views, you’ll find more people willing to hear what you say.
Last Quarter:
This phase happens when the sun and moon are at a 90-degree angle while the moon is shrinking. People born during this time are often quiet, thoughtful, and very tuned in to their inner world. They are creative, dreamy, and enjoy thinking about deep ideas. They prefer their peaceful inner world to loud, busy places. Their big lesson is to stay calm when the outside world feels harsh or stressful. They may not enjoy facing hard truths and can get upset when forced to. But if they try to bring some of their inner beauty into the outside world, they’ll feel more at peace.
Waning Crescent / Balsamic Moon:
This is the last moon phase. It happens just before the new moon, when the moon is one or two signs away from the sun. People born now have strong inner wisdom. They like to be alone and quiet, as outside noise can feel too loud or distracting. If you were born in this phase, you likely have a peaceful, healing energy that others notice. Your biggest lesson is to not push others away just because they’re different or less quiet. You may be okay being alone, but life can get lonely. You don’t have to solve every problem by yourself—others have wisdom too.
Each moon phase comes with special gifts and lessons. No matter your phase, you’ll have your own path to follow. Trust the strengths of your moon phase and let its lessons guide you to a fuller, more balanced life.
